Privacy Policy
The short version: RateAnchor runs on your device. No account, no analytics, no third-party billing processors, no tracking — your data stays on your device, and we never receive it. The only personal information we ever hold is an email address you choose to give us on this website's launch-notification form.
Summary
RateAnchor is designed to work on your device. We do not require an account, we do not use analytics, we do not use third-party billing processors, and we do not collect personal information from the app. Your app data stays on your device.
Our website may collect an email address and platform choice if you sign up for launch updates. That is the only personal information we hold, and this policy covers both the app and the website.
Information stored on your device
The app stores the following locally on your device, and nowhere else:
- truck profiles — equipment type, monthly costs, and operating assumptions
- quotes, saved loads, and your job log
- your Broker Book — brokers you've verified, your private ratings, notes, and pay-speed records
- Rate Con Checker history — the details extracted from rate confirmations you read
- lane memory — the lanes and real miles you've recorded
- app preferences such as language, theme, and role
- subscription or entitlement status, stored locally so the app works offline
The Rate Con Checker works entirely on your device: pasted text and PDF files are read locally and are never uploaded — the app has no camera feature and never requests camera access. Voice quoting uses your device's own speech recognition. The built-in Backup & restore feature writes a backup file that only you hold — we never see it.
This information stays on your device. We have no server-side copy, which also means we cannot recover it for you — use Backup & restore.
Information we do not collect from the app
We do not require or collect: your name, email address, or phone number; an account or login; advertising identifiers; analytics identifiers or third-party analytics data; cross-app or cross-site tracking data.
There are no analytics SDKs in the app, and the app transmits nothing about how you use it. We do not sell or share personal information. Ever.
Purchases and subscriptions
If you buy a RateAnchor membership or the Founding Operator purchase: payment is processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play; we do not receive or store your card number or payment details; we do not use any third-party billing processor; entitlement status is handled locally on your device so the app works offline.
Limited app network requests
The app makes a small number of outbound requests only to provide features you choose to use: fuel price lookups (EIA), weather lookups (NWS/NOAA), broker verification lookups (FMCSA public records), fraud-check domain-age lookups, and market, freight-index, and produce-rate lookups (federal indices and USDA). Fuel, market, freight-index, and produce requests carry nothing about you or your business — they simply fetch current public figures.
Requests are handled by our stateless lookup service and used only to return the requested public data.
Transient request servicing
Three lookups carry values you entered: route coordinates or place identifiers for weather, DOT or MC numbers for broker verification, and a domain name for fraud checks. These values are sent in request bodies, not in URLs, so they do not appear in standard web-server log lines. Our lookup functions are built to log no request inputs, and our service stores nothing: each value is used to service your request in real time and is not retained by us. We do not build profiles from lookups, and weather coordinates come from the lane cities you type — the app never uses your device's GPS location.
Problem reporting
The app keeps a short activity list only on your device to help you describe a problem if you choose to send a support email yourself. That list stays on your device, is sent nowhere unless you choose to include it in an email you send, and can be disabled with the switch in the app's Privacy section. If you send a support email, whatever you include in it reaches us because you chose to send it.
Website launch-notification form
If you submit your email address on our website to receive launch updates, we collect your email address and your platform choice. We use that information only to send the launch notification or update described at the time you submit the form, and we do not sell it.
The app and the website are different
The app runs locally on your device and collects no personal information. The website may collect contact information you submit through its form. Both are covered by this policy, but only the website form ever gives us personal information.
Third-party service providers
We use service providers to operate the website and the lookup service — hosting and form-processing providers. Those providers may process limited technical information needed to deliver the service (for example, standard server logs kept briefly by our hosting provider for security and operations, and the website form submissions described above). We do not read hosting logs to identify users, and no provider receives your app data — we never have it to give.
Data retention
App data stays on your device until you delete the app or clear its data (your own backup files remain wherever you keep them). Lookup requests are not retained by us. Website waitlist emails are kept only as long as needed for the purpose described when collected. We do not maintain any server-side user database.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information under our control. Because your app data never leaves your device, its security also depends on your device's own protections — use a passcode, and keep your backup file somewhere safe. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
Children's privacy
RateAnchor is intended for commercial use and is not directed to children under 13, or under 16 where required by law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can: delete app data by uninstalling the app or clearing its storage; remove saved items from within the app; disable the on-device activity list in the app's Privacy section; and unsubscribe from website emails using the instructions in the email or by writing to us.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under state or international privacy laws.
California and other U.S. state privacy laws. Where those laws apply, you may have rights to know what personal information we collect, to access it, to request deletion, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of any sale or sharing (we do not sell or share personal information). The app is designed not to collect personal information at all; the website waitlist collects only the email address and platform choice you submit.
European Union and United Kingdom visitors. If you visit our website from the EEA or UK, you may have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR, including to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We process waitlist submissions to provide the notification you requested and, where required, on the basis of your consent.
International transfers
If you use our website from outside the United States, information you submit may be processed in the United States or in other countries where our service providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we change how information is handled, we will update this policy and its effective date before or when the change takes effect. If the app ever begins collecting anything this policy says it does not, we will say so plainly here and in the app's store privacy label first.
